SAFE BATH PRODUCTS FOR KIDS

I felt the need to post this today. There are so many lotions, soaps and bubble baths that are very toxic for our kids. The FDA does not regulate the ingredients in any skin care products so there are many on the market that contain harmful agents. Here is the latest report with some examples of popular baby products that are toxic. They contain Formaldehyde and Dioxane which have been linked to cancer and skin allergies. I was shocked to see Johnson and Johnson and Baby Magic on this list.
About a year ago I started really researching products that are safe for children's skin. A few products that I love are:

1) California Baby (you can purchase this at Target) http://www.californiababy.com/
2) Earth Mama Angel Baby (smells so good, you can purchase this at Whole Foods or Central Market) http://www.earthmamaangelbaby.com/index.php
3) Avalon Organics (you can get this at Whole Foods or Central Market)http://www.avalonorganics.com/?title=Baby

California Baby has an excellent sunscreen and bug spray that is also free of any toxins, works great and smells great too!

HAPPY EASTER

This is my attempt to take pictures of 2 kids........it is a challenge to say the least. Poor Sage look at the look on her face "help"! It was cold and rainy today so we did the egg hunt inside today at 6:30 A.M. Both girls have colds so needless to say they have not been in the best mood!

Outfits by Little Cupcakes Company.....www.littlecupcakescompany.com

I have never been so unprepared than I was this year for Easter. I had to take some pictures of the girls Easter baskets......Hilarious! Dan looked at me at 10:00 P.M. last night and said, "What are we going to do for the girls Easter baskets?" You should have seen us scurrying around to find ANYTHING around the house to put in the baskets. Sage got 2 jars of baby food, an egg with a $1 in it and a bunny that I did purchase a few weeks ago. Berlynn got an art project I bought a few months ago and forgot to give to her, a bunny, 4 suckers, 3 eggs with $1 in each and Dans Reece's peanut butter cups that he bought for a snack. I made him give it up for the basket. Ha!!! I know I get the mom of the year award! HAPPY EASTER and a special Happy Birthday to my little bro Jered, who isnt really that little. Happy 25th Birthday Jered!

We took miss Berlynn to Disney on Ice this weekend, it was really good! I highly recommend it but wear a coat...burrrrr it was cold!

Little Cupcakes Company

Ok I know I am obsessed but I got these cute little shirts for Sage and Berlynn (above) as a gift when Sage was born. A few months later I went to Carolines trunk show where I got to see her whole line of clothes for kids. These little outfits are so cute and make great gifts. Check them out at http://www.littlecupcakescompany.com/ Of course I went overboard but I could not resist:) They have DARLING stuff for boys and girls!

He Passed

I actually forgot to post this last week but Dan passed his CCNA exam with a 96%. He is now a Cisco Certified Network Administrator. It took a lot of work for him to get this certification. I am so pround of him!! We love you daddy!

Up Next: He will start taking classes in the spring to get another certification CCNP (Cisco Certified Network Professional).

Can you guess who this is?

Oh yes this is Dan and I hugging.........lets hope Dan is the bigger one:)

She is really getting in to writing and wants to write everyones name. These are a few that she can write with no help. She sounds out the names. Another cool thing she does is write with both her right and left hand.

This is a picture she drew for her best friend Addy. Below is a picture of the 2 of them at the Chrismas program. Isnt she a cutie pie? They go to school together at Spanish Schoolhouse.

Puppy love...

Yes this is the same dog who isnt really good around kids. He has made a complete turn around since we gave Tex to Maggie. He loves Berlynn because she drops crumbs on the floor when she eats and of course Sage is not mobile yet so he loves to snuggle with her. One of these days I will get Sage on video cracking up at Rico, she thinks he is soooo funny.

Here are the stats

Sagie Boo had her 6 month doctor appt today! Wow such a big girl already

Weight: 15lbs 1 oz (28th percentile)
Height:27 inches (87th percentile)
Head: 16.5 inches (31st percentile)

Wow, she is tall huh! I am not suprised Berlynn has always been in the 90th. It is just funny because at 4 weeks she was only in the 13th percentile. No wonder she skipped the 3 month clothes and went right into 6 months:)

Daddy quizzes Berlynn on her Spanish

Of course we bribed her to do this...isnt that normal? I brought in a ladybug yesterday morning and later that night she says, "Donde esta la mariquita?" Keep in mind, I dont know Spanish. For those of you who dont know, it means, where is the ladybug? Thanks to Daddy, he can translate.

Real Food...Yummy

Yes despite the look on her face, she loves mommys homemade sweet potatoes! Avocado not so much but when I added bananna to it she liked it a little better. I dont really blame her. I hate Avacados. Next up on the menu, zucchini and peas. Yummy!

So anyone who really knows me knows how obsessive I can be....I can hear my friends laughing right now because I am just like my mom. Anyway I am obsessed with this babyfood maker. Steam and blend all in one. One peice. No hassel clean up. So if making babyfood is your thing, you have to get this. Its so easy! We also use it to "hide" carrots, spinach etc. in our own food. Ha!

Bringing you up to date

Well I guess since this is the first entry I will bring you all up to date with our current happenings. We live in Dallas with our 2 beautiful daughters Berlynn and Sage. I am in medical sales for Cardinal Health and have been for 6 years. Dan is currently at home with our second baby and will be until she is 2. He is currently working on getting his CCNA certification and plans to sit for the exam in March. We love Dallas but we miss our families. Dan's family is still in NJ and mine is still in KS.

Berlynn is 3 and goes to preschool 5 days a week at Spanish Schoolhouse. She has learned so much and she already says so many spanish phrases. We just had parent teacher conferences and her teacher said she was so smart and understands everything they say to her in spanish. She said she will tell Berlynn 3 tasks in Spanish and she follows through without any questions. I am starting to learn the language and Dan is polishing up on his existing knowledge. Berlynn knows all of her letters and the sounds they make. She suprised us and spelled her first word this week. She said look daddy H-O-T that spells hot!!

Sage is 5 months and is finally sleeping through the night. She rolls over from belly to back and is such a happy baby. She loves her daddy. Every time he is in the room she has her eyes glued to him. She still naps 3 times a day and sleeps from 7 pm to 7 am most nights.

Welcome Baby Sage. Happy and Healthy. 6lbs 11oz. I ended up carrying her to 39 weeks:)

My pregancy:

I had a great pregnancy with Sage besides spending the last 3 months on bedrest. I got put on bedrest at 26 weeks due to short cervix. I had the same issues with Berlynn but not near this soon. I survived the bedrest with internet shopping:)

This is for you Berlynn:

Since we are starting this blog when Sage is a baby we wanted to include some of our favorite memories of Berlynn when she was an infant and toddler.

Welome Berlynn:

She was born on 9-26-05 weighing 6 lbs 10 oz

My pregnancy: I also had a wonderful pregnancy with Berlynn. A few headaches here and there but no sickness no high blood pressure. Nothing eventful until around 32 weeks. I was hospitalized for 3 weeks due to short cervix. I was 90% effaced and 2 centimeters dialated. I ended up carrying her to 37 weeks.

Berlynn was the best baby. She slept 20 out of 24 hours a day. She was so calm and happy. I stayed home for 3 months and then Dan stayed home with her for 12 months. She started walking at 14 months.

At 15 months we put her in a Montessori school. She liked it OK but then again she would have been happy anywhere. She was really adaptable. She never had stranger anxiety. It was really nice but also a little frightening.

The weirdest thing she ever did:

Sleep standing up for an entire week. It made me crazy, I almost cried every time I saw it. We would put her in bed and she would instantly stand up and then would fall asleep on the bedrail. We would go and lay her down and she would pop right back up. It was so sad.

Our favorite things she said:

      • g'dea (she would combine the words "great idea" into one. She would say, "I have a g'dea mommy)
      • "splip splops" for flip flops
      • "tomor-reo" for tomorrow (one time Dan's mom thought she was talking about her friend named Mario)
      • "musgic" for music
      • "hostimal" for hospital

Favorite faces:

She would make this face where she clinched her neck, arms, hands and fingers. It was so funny. She did it one time for a few seconds straight and a friend of ours thought she was having a seizure.

She would crinkle up her nose and sniff like a dog. She started doing it at 9 months and of course we loved it and laughed and laughed so she kept doing it.

Favorite toys:

Everyone who knows Berlynn knows how much she loves her bears. She slept with all of them and Floppy Bear traveled with us whereever we went. She named them all. Momma Bear, Brother Bear, Baby Bear, Brown Bear and Tiny Bear.

She also loves her babies. She has Pakey, Pacey, Bellisima and the twins (Coko and Kiki) and of course lets not forget Minnie.
